Nathaly Muñoz
President – Event Coordinator and Island Community Outreach
Nathaly Munoz was born in Colombia and came to PEI as a refugee in 2003. She is the president and founding member of the Latinos Association of PEI and enjoys planning and implementing fun community events. She speaks English, and Spanish and knows French and Sign Language. She’s a veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces, owner of Treehouse Adventures childcare in Summerside, and Mateo’s Colombian Cuisine. You can always find her with her children Mateo and Malina, and husband Joel trying new foods or climbing trees.
Rafael Aguirre
Vice-President
Rafael Aguirre was born in the city of Guayaquil, Ecuador, and moved to PEI in 2008 to pursue his studies, graduating with a Bachelor of Business Administration four years later. Currently our Vice-President, he’s looking to provide support to the Latino community he’s seen growing during his years on the island. Outside of the Association, he’s the proud owner of EastCode Blockchain Labs, a local software development company, and a fencing instructor at Maritime Sword School.
Joel Wonnacott
Treasurer and Director of Legal and Policy Affairs
Joel Wonnacott, the Treasurer and a founding member of the Latinos Association of PEI Inc., brings a wealth of expertise and dedication to the board of directors. Joel holds a Juris Doctor law degree from the University of British Columbia. With his legal background and experience, Joel delivers critical thinking and problem-solving and plays a vital role in ensuring the association’s strategic goals are met. Joel spends his time on various adventures with his wife, Nathaly, and children Mateo and Malina.
Hiram Santana
Secretary
Hiram holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and is passionate about global affairs. As an avid reader, he constantly seeks new insights. He practices yoga and martial arts. He is driven and analytical. His adaptable nature allows him to balance life seamlessly. Hiram is empathetic, connecting easily with others. He is a dedicated and enthusiastic member of our voluntary association, always willing to lend a helping hand. He has a positive attitude and a strong work ethic.
Tatiana Ibáñez
Volunteer Coordinator and Latin Outreach
Tatiana was born in Bogotá, Colombia, and moved to PEI in 2021. She holds a degree in Marketing & Advertising Management and serves as a Volunteer Board Member and Director of Latin Community Outreach/Volunteer Coordinator for our association. Tatiana loves baking and gardening and is a passionate content creator. She enjoys making videos about beauty, lifestyle, product reviews, and baking in her free time. She also loves binge-watching series at home with her cats and spending time with close friends.
Erick Corona
Cultural Ambassador Coordinator
Erick Corona is originally from Mexico City. He is currently pursuing a degree in actuarial science at UPEI. Erick greatly appreciates the tranquility and strong sense of community that PEI offers. He considers himself to be quite active and enjoys meeting new people and exploring new activities. In his leisure time, he enjoys playing video games, practicing fencing, and playing tennis.
